2015 - Island Roads Arreton Roadworks Bulletin No 6

Arreton Works Bulletin No 6

Introduction
This is the sixth works bulletin for Arreton. Other than a minor delay this week due to inclement weather, works are progressing to plan. Please see the update below on the current and upcoming phases.

Progress to Date
Since starting the works on the 20th of April 2015, the weather has been kind to us and works have progressed well. This means that we are currently ahead of programme and anticipate the completion of the carriageway works to be during the mid to later part of June, if we continue at the rate we have managed to date. Although this is good news it needs to be tempered with the thought that weather and factors such as material production may have an impact on progress. We will provide further information on progress to date in the next bulletin.

Please note we are aware of the potential housing development to the north of Heasley Lane, however as there is currently no programme of works for this development, we will continue with the carriageway reconstruction. In an effort to minimise any future disruption we will be installing ducting which can be used in the future.

Phase 3
There was a one day delay to Phase 3 due to rain affecting progress and this completed at the end of the day on Wednesday 20th May 2015.

Phase 4
Phase 4 commenced on the evening of Wednesday 20th May 2015 and is due to complete at the end of the day on Saturday 23rd May 2015.

Phase 5
Phase 5 is due to commence on the evening of Saturday 23rd May 2015 from 7pm until 6am the following morning. This phase is anticipated to last for approximately 7 days.

Phases
• Phase 1 - Arreton Cross – Adjacent to property ‘Sun Trap’.
• Phase 2 - Adjacent to property ‘Sun Trap’ to north side of access to Cherry Wood View.
• Phase 3 - South side of Cherrywood View to north side of Hazely Combe.
• Phase 4 - South side of Hazely Combe to Heasley Lane.
• Phase 5 – Heasley Lane to north side of Stickworth Lane.
• Phase 6 – South side of Stickworth Lane to Hale Common.

Footways
We are pleased to inform you that work on the footway resurfacing works will commence on
Tuesday 26th May 2015. The work will take place between Arreton Community Centre and Heasley
Lane and will take approximately 12 days, with the works being undertaken during the day, Monday to Friday. These works will be phased so as not to conflict with the current carriageway reconstruction and resurfacing works so that pedestrian access is maintained at all times throughout Arreton.

Junction Resurfacing – Stickworth Lane
We are planning to undertake the reconstruction works across the junction of Stickworth Lane on the evening of Tuesday 26th May 2015.
During that evening there will be no access in to or out of Stickworth Lane between 7pm on Tuesday
26th May and 6am on Wednesday 27th May. During this time you will need to relocate your vehicles outside of Stickworth Lane if you feel that this is necessary.
Although we understand that this will cause you some disruption, please be aware that once completed, this will allow vehicle access to your property for the remaining duration of the works.
Island Roads would like to thank you for your cooperation while we are undertaking these works.

Hale Common
To date we have completed the majority of the Hale Common resurfacing works from the Fighting
Cocks Pub car park to properties 1 & 2 Longmeade.

How to Contact Us
The best way to contact us is through the Island Roads Hub (01983 822440 or
info@islandroads.com) as this is operated 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. This method allows us
to record any questions and deal with any issues as quickly as we can. As mentioned above,
although we will have personnel on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, they may not be aware of
any wider issues and they will not be able to answer all enquiries.
Alternatively, Owen Ratcliffe at the Post Office is kept up to date with developments on an almost
daily basis and is more than happy to assist you if he can. If he can’t help, then he can raise your concerns or questions with the site manager who he is in regular contact with.

Thank You

Island Roads would like to take the opportunity to thank the residents and businesses who have been directly affected by these works for your ongoing support and cooperation.
