Emergency closure of the cycle track - Newchurch and Sandown.

 Dear Resident

Please see below for notification of the emergency closure of the cycle track between Newchurch and Sandown.  Not on our patch but near enough to be used by some.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 (2) (b) 

The Isle of Wight Council (Cycle Track From Sandown To Newport, Sandown) 

(Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic, Pedestrians, Cyclists and Equestrians) Order No 10 2020 

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE - Cycle Track From Sandown To Newport Sandown 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN under Section 14 (2) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, that Ringway Island Roads Ltd, acting on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council, to prevent the likelihood of danger to the public, or serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to any works on or near the road, considers that the closure to the road as specified below should come into force without delay. 

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Cycle Track From Sandown To Newport, from its junction with Alverstone Road to its junction with The Shute. Emergency closure due to flooding 

DIVERSION ROUTE(S): The diversion will affect these streets: Langbridge, The Shute, High Street, Palmers Lane, Skinners Hill, Alverstone Road, Burnt House Lane, Alverstone Shute, Main Road 

Diversion route(s) will be signed at the time of closure. Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed. 

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From 00:00 hours on 11th December 2020, for a maximum period of twenty-one days or until floodwater levels have dropped and the site made safe, whichever is sooner. 

I attach a copy of a plan showing the location of the road to be closed and an alternative route.
