Arreton Parish Council meeting with a police presence
A date for your diary.
As you may know, the Parish Council normally meets on the second Monday of the month. However in April, the second Monday falls on Easter Monday and we are not permitted to meet on public holidays. We have therefore brought the meeting forward to April 3rd (the first Monday). This will be in the Community Hall as usual. The meeting will be preceded by the Annual Parish Meeting to which all residents are invited, starting at 7pm. This is when the Chairman reviews the previous year and it is an opportunity for residents to raise questions or pass comments on how the PC is doing. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available. This will be followed by the regular monthly meeting but on this occasion, Insp. Gooding from the Hampshire and IW Police will be making a return visit to report on the effects of measures which he talked about in September. Hopefully, this will be good news for the Island in general and the residents of Arreton Parish (especially Merstone) in particular.
Whilst I am here, the prohibition of meetings on public holidays will also affect our May meeting. The second Monday has been declared a Bank Holiday in celebration of the King’s Coronation and as the first Monday is already a holiday, we have had to move to May 15th.
